My approach to costuming has always been influenced by my experiences as an actor and director. The job of the costumer is to support the actor's characterization within the visual world set up by the director. The most important feature on the stage should be the character rather than the costume, whether the director's vision is very naturalistic or stylized. I live and work in the Washington, DC area.
